Hanoi People’s Court accepted lawsuit claims of Hoa Binh Construction Group, and has forced Sunshine E&C Construction Joint Stock Company to pay over 94 billion VND.
Hoa Binh Construction Group Joint Stock Company (HBC) mentioned the aforementioned information in a report that was sent to the Hanoi Stock Exchange (HNX).
Specifically, HBC announced that the Hanoi People’s Court accepted their lawsuit claims and has forced Sunshine E&C Construction Joint Stock Company to pay a total amount of over 94 billion VND, which includes principal debt, accrued interest, and penalties.
Since 2023, such group chaired by Mr. Le Viet Hai filed a lawsuit to People’s Court of Nam Tu Liem District against its partner, Sunshine E&C Construction.
The above lawsuit’s amount is the unpaid sum from two construction contracts for the projects of Wonder Villas adjacent villa and Sunshine International School (Bac Tu Liem District, Hanoi City).
In May of last year, the Court issued a preliminary judgment accepting the claims of Hoa Binh Construction Group Joint Stock Company and has forced its partner to pay the entire debt.
After resolving the appeals from Sunshine E&C, Hanoi People’s Court issued a legally effective judgment No. 285 dated 28 November 2024 forcing this company to pay the entire debt to HBC.
Notably, the Report on dispute settlement progress as of 17th February 2025 sent to HBC, in which ALB & Partners Law Firm also stated that the total dispute value between Mr. Le Viet Hai’s group and Sunshine’s legal entities amounts to 746 billion VND (equivalent to 30 million USD). The dispute between HBC and Sunshine E&C is one case among those.
In addition, there are disputes between HBC and Sunshine Group and another between HBC and Sunshine Saigon. The law firm successfully won over 157 billion VND from the dispute between HBC and Sunshine Saigon.
As previously reported by Tuoi Tre Online, Civil Enforcement Department of District 1 enforced the judgment of Ho Chi Minh City People’s Court requiring Sunshine to pay Hoa Binh Construction Group nearly 158 billion VND and accrued interest in case of delay.
This is not the first time HBC has won a lawsuit for debt collection. In October 2023, HBC successfully collected 304 billion VND from FLC Group.
